British Section Committee Nominations

The appointment of new members to the Committee of the British Section will take place at the Annual General Meeting, which is to be held on 16 September 2009, during the course of the IOP’s Combustion Physics Group Autumn meeting on Soots, which will be taken at Shell Thornton Research Centre. On this occasion there will be two vacancies to be filled, from Simone Hochgreb and Tony Griffiths, who are both stepping down after 6 years, are therefore ineligible for another term.

The Committee is much aware of the need for a balance that reflects different sectors and activities of the combustion community in the UK. In particular, we would welcome nominations of industry members, as well as from universities not already represented on the committee, to improve the balance. Please give thought to this, and make your own views count through a nomination. For each nomination it is necessary to have the support of three other ordinary members. Such nominations must be received by Friday, 24 July 2009 by the Hon. Secretary Prof. Simone Hochgreb. simone.hochgreb@eng.cam.ac.uk. Please could each nomination be accompanied by a brief statement outlining the background of the candidate. This statement will be included on the ballot paper, in the event of an election being necessary. The current membership of the British Section Committee is attached for your information.
