For the 2023 Hinshelwood Prize, seven candidates were nominated by CIBS members. Each candidate was evaluated by the Award Panel, which consisted of three members from the CIBS community, including academics and previous Hinshelwood Prize winners. The candidates were scored on a scale of 1 to 10, and their rankings were determined using two criteria: the average score and the panel members' rankings. To ensure impartiality, panel members from the same institution as a candidate or those who nominated a candidate were excluded from scoring that individual. The winner, Dr Lu Tian, achieved the highest ranking on both measures.
The Panel members were:
Dr Salvador Navarro-Martinez (Chair, Imperial College London)
Prof Nilan Chakraborty (Newcastle University)
Dr Daniel Pugh (Cardiff University)
