The Sugden Prize 2021 Panel Report

For the 2021 Sugden Award, 40 articles published in the year 2021 were nominated by CIBS members and these papers were published in 16 different journals related to combustion.

These papers were ranked by the Award Panel having five members from the CIBS community.

The members included an academic and industrial member of the CIBS Committee, the UK Editor for Combustion and Flame, and two additional academic CIBS members.

The Panel Chair gave 8 papers to each Panel member who were asked to select top two for further consideration.

Any panel member(s) who had a paper in the shortlisted 10 were replaced by a member of the CIBS Committee.

The Award Panel evaluated and ranked these 10 papers to select the final winner of 2021 Sugden Award - congratulations to the winners.

The Panel members for the final round were:

• Prof. Richard Stone (Oxford)

• Dr. Suresh Sadasivuni (Siemens, Lincoln)
