For the 2023 Sugden Award, 33 articles published in the year 2023 were nominated by CIBS members and these papers were published in 12 different journals related to combustion. These papers were ranked by the Award Panel having five members from the CIBS community and one expert member from CIBS. The members included five academic and two industrial members of the CIBS Committee. The Panel Chair gave 13 papers to each Panel member who were asked to select a single paper for further consideration. To make the maximum transparency for the 33 articles, every panel member should have some paper in common to review. A total of 12 final papers were selected for the final round and top three from each panel member accounted for best paper based on the ranking and weighting factors. The Award Panel evaluated and ranked the top paper to select the final winner - congratulations to the winners.
